The Day That Shifted Everything
Â
Â
Some weeks change you. This was one of them.
From celebrating a book launch to witnessing the raw resilience of the human spirit and welcoming new members to our mini farm, this week was full of perspective shifts.
It made me see privilege differently. Pain differently. Struggle differently.
A Milestone for Mabel’s World
This week also marked a huge moment for me - celebrating the launch of my dear friend and book-coaching client Jemma Tribe’s book, A Handbook For Women On Their Way Up.  You can get a copy here. This is the very first title under Mabel’s World imprint. Pick up any book off the shelf and on the spine, usually at the bottom, you'll see a business name accompanied by a small logo. That name is the imprint, the book industry term for the brand the book is published under.
Seeing her words come to life in a published book was surreal. It reminded me why I started Mabel’s World in the first place - to help bring incredible stories into the world. And this? This was just the beginning. Congrats Jemma!
A Life-Altering Event
At an International Women’s Day event, I heard stories of unimaginable loss and strength. One woman, Eugenia, survived starvation, lost a child, and still found joy again. Her story cracked me wide open and I knew I had to do something.
So, I chose Eugenia as the recipient of the 2025 Mabel’s World Author Scholarship. It’s my way of saying to her: “Your story matters. Your voice deserves to be heard.” I was reminded me that we all have battles. But we also have the power to lift others up.
I also learnt about Forever Projects at this event, a charity dedicated to helping women break the cycle of poverty and create a self-sustaining future.  Founded by Mark and Anna Dombkins, their journey with Forever Projects began with an unexpected but life-changing moment, watching a documentary about the realities of orphanages in Tanzania.
Deeply moved, they travelled to Tanzania, where they witnessed firsthand the heartbreaking cycle that led mothers to give up their children due to poverty. It was during this experience that they adopted three siblings and made a life-altering commitment: to help women keep their families together.
This passion became the foundation of Forever Projects, an organisation dedicated to empowering Tanzanian women with the resources and skills to create sustainable futures for themselves and their children. I urge you to check it out and if their work inspires you, donate.
Two New Additions to Our Family Farm
As if the week wasn’t big enough, my eldest son had his birthday, and what did he want for his birthday? Sheep. Yep, we welcomed two new woolly friends to our little farm, Snoopy and Sam.
Raising animals teaches kids invaluable life lessons that go far beyond simple caretaking. It instills responsibility as they learn to feed, clean, and nurture another living being, understanding that their actions directly impact the animal’s wellbeing. Patience and empathy grow as they navigate the ups and downs of animal care, from joyful moments of bonding to the challenges of illness or loss.
I’ve learnt that farm life also fosters resilience - kids experience firsthand the rhythms of nature, the unpredictability of life, and the importance of showing up every day, rain or shine. Ultimately, caring for animals helps shape compassionate, hardworking, and mindful individuals who appreciate the value of commitment and connection.
